In it, we will hear F. Schubert’s famous quartet no. 14 in D minor “Death and the Maden” (G. Mahler’s orchestration for the string orchestra). It is one of the most famous works of F. Schubert, often called the composer’s musical will. Thanks to G. Mahler’s genius orchestration, the string orchestra sounds massive, dense, and at the climax of the work as if it is rich as a vast orchestra.In other concerts of “Thursdays with Christopher,” we will hear orchestral programs together with pianist P. Geniušas, vibraphone player M. Aita, cellist K. Reiko Cooper, singer V. Povilioniene, Lithuanian composers M. Bialobžeskis, R. Mačiliūnaitė, V. Germanavičius, Japanese composers Sh. Sahara and M.
