In program you will hear exceptionally for the St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra written piece premier by Israel Ayal Adler. As well you will hear a piece of deep meaning and interesting coloring by litvak, Anatoly Šenderov – concerto for violn and chamber orchestra. Charity Concert “CHILDREN FOR CHILDREN”

„Children for Children“, is a charity concert that now has been organized for four years in a row. The aim of the concert is to appreciate the great memory of a famous violoncellist, conductor, defender of human rights, philanthropist Mstislav Rostropovich and his great contribution for Lithuania.
In a solemn concert “Children for Children” the ideas of maestro M. Rostropovich will be brought to life. For more than 25 years actively participating in charity events, the famous musician has patronized both talented and diseased children. The young performers patronized by the maestro foundation will perform together with St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra conducted by Modestas Barkauskas. In such way they will try to drive attention to their friends of the same age, but not as lucky as they are in terms of health: money for Charity Foundation of Children’s Hospital will be collected. That children give concert for other children and by such initiative something greater is born within their minds – their responsibility and empathy – this is the main idea of the concert and thank you to maestro, who has brought hope to many children of this world.
The concert will be broadcast on TV channel LRT Kultūra on the 14th of April at 21:00 (LT time).
During the concert and before that the money will be collected for the antibacterial furniture in the Children’s Oncohematology Department, Bone marrow transplantation subdivision. Currently the needed amount is 40 thousand euros. It is possible to donate starting from now by transferring any desirable amount to the bank account of Children’s Hospital Charity Foundation:

While waiting for the Easter celebration St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra invites to a concert of most beautiful baroque music – music from heaven. The honorary guest of the evening, chaplain Algirdas Toliatas will congratulate everyone with upcoming meaningful celebration. Lina Dambrauskaitė will charm listeners with her beautiful voice that very much resembles the singing of a nightingale.

TOURING IN UKRAINE

After receiving financing from Lithuanian Council for Culture and Ministry of Culture of Lithuania, on 8th to 16th of March St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra is going on a tour to Ukraine.
During this tour, the orchestra will give concerts in the Great Hall of Kiev Music Academy named for P. Tchaikovsky, Soldiers Rehabilitation Hospital, newly renovated Severodonetsk Drama and Music Theatre; organize educational events in an orphanage of Severodonetsk and a school of Novodruzhesk. On a tour together with the orchestra a raising opera star, tenor Edgaras Davidovičius, Conductor Emeritus Donatas Katkus and Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Modestas Barkauskas will come.

The orchestra does not limit its visit with just concerts. Together with Lithuanian Caritas, it continues an initiative that has started in 2017 – gathering financial support that orchestra will use to buy necessities for the orphanages in Severodonetsk and basic music equipment for the school in Novodruzhesk. The orchestra will personally hand the bought things to the responsible people of above-mentioned organizations.

In support of the initiative, together with Caritas of Lithuania and the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania the orchestra organizes a FREE CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERT “BIRDS OF EDEN”. Before and after this concert, and while visiting other concerts in St. Catherine’s Church listeners will be able to donate to a special Caritas Offerings Box. THIS CONCERT – IS A PART OF INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT CHILDREN OF UKRAINE. IT IS A MUTUAL PROJECT OF ST. CHRISTOPHER ORCHESTRA AND CARITAS OF LITHUANIA.
After receiving financing for touring to Eastern Ukraine from Lithuanian Council for Culture and Ministry of Culture of Lithuania St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra has a possibility to visit orphanages in Severodonetsk and a school in Novodruzhesk.

The orchestra has decided to continue it’s initiative that started in 2017 when it gave concert in Kaunas and raised money to buy necessities for the same orphanages.

During this years initiative and concert the money will be raised so that the orchestra would be able to answer to various needs that these orphanages and the school expressed.
In Vilnius St. Catherine’s Church (Vilniaus St 30) there is a special offerings box, everyone who is willing is welcome to give what ever amount he/she wants, it is also possible to transfer money directly to the special bank account of the project:

Modestas Barkauskas:
„I have a two year old son, I understand it very well – how much a child needs. This, what children of Ukraine are experiencing is horrible. I wouldn’t wish this to happen to any person, especially to children. We, the orchestra, Caritas of Lithuania and all people from Lithuania [and other countries] can do something to ease the routine of poor Ukrainian orphans, who were shattered and traumatized by war.“
For the offerings that will be received the orchestra will buy basic things such as diapers, food, teaching materials, vitamins, musical equipment. The musicians of the orchestra will take the gifts by themselves and will give them to the employers of the orphanages and the school.
