Astor Piazzolla, one of South America’s most famous Argentinean composers and performers, is called the king of tango. Combining the suggestive, sensual tango music with jazz and classical music elements and creating the so-called new tango, the composer is considered a revolutionary of traditional tango music.
“My music is popular chamber music that grew out of tango,” says the composer.
Piazzolla managed not only to revive the popularity of tango but also to become the Great Astor (El Gran Astor) in his native land.
St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra and the charming opera soloist Ieva Prudnikovaite will not only sing but also lead the orchestra!
The concert will feature the most famous songs of A. Piazzolla and the most passionate tango.
