While awaiting for the real spring to come, we present you an exceptional concert. CONCERTO GROSSO OF EPOCHS – is a great carnival of two musical epochs. Baroque and XXth century music will meet, you will be surprised how perfectly can musical pieces of different musical epochs sound, (even though they are separated by 300 years of history) when performed one after another! In the menu you will find selected pieces by Antonio Vivaldi, Johan Sebastian Bach and a little bit more spicy, contemporary sound Alfred Schnittke. There is no doubt tat the evening will leave no regrets to all orchestral and violin music lovers and not only to them, but also to everyone who are longing to find unrevealed treasures of classical music mines. The central figure of the concert – evening soloist, great violinist, Rūta Lipinaitytė. The violinist will be accompanied by her students, winners of international music competitions – future of Lithuanian culture. The feast will be conducted by the wizard of the evening, a recent laureate of a prestigious conducting competition – Modestas Barkauskas.

You are invited to have a memorable Thursday evening in a subtle surroundings of St. Catherine‘s Church, while listening to the sound of strings of St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra and incredible soloists. For this occation St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra is giving a spectacular concert dedicated for Jewish culture. In program you will hear exceptionally for the St. Christopher’s Chamber Orchestra written piece premier by Israel Ayal Adler. As well you will hear a piece of deep meaning and interesting coloring by litvak, Anatoly Šenderov – concerto for violn and chamber orchestra. „Children for Children“, is a charity concert that now has been organized for four years in a row. The aim of the concert is to appreciate the great memory of a famous violoncellist, conductor, defender of human rights, philanthropist Mstislav Rostropovich and his great contribution for Lithuania.
In a solemn concert “Children for Children” the ideas of maestro M. Rostropovich will be brought to life. For more than 25 years actively participating in charity events, the famous musician has patronized both talented and diseased children. The young performers patronized by the maestro foundation will perform together with St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra conducted by Modestas Barkauskas. In such way they will try to drive attention to their friends of the same age, but not as lucky as they are in terms of health: money for Charity Foundation of Children’s Hospital will be collected. That children give concert for other children and by such initiative something greater is born within their minds – their responsibility and empathy – this is the main idea of the concert and thank you to maestro, who has brought hope to many children of this world.
The concert will be broadcast on TV channel LRT Kultūra on the 14th of April at 21:00 (LT time).
During the concert and before that the money will be collected for the antibacterial furniture in the Children’s Oncohematology Department, Bone marrow transplantation subdivision. Currently the needed amount is 40 thousand euros. It is possible to donate starting from now by transferring any desirable amount to the bank account of Children’s Hospital Charity Foundation:

Lina Dambrauskaitė will charm listeners with her beautiful voice that very much resembles the singing of a nightingale.

TOURING IN UKRAINE

After receiving financing from Lithuanian Council for Culture and Ministry of Culture of Lithuania, on 8th to 16th of March St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra is going on a tour to Ukraine.
During this tour, the orchestra will give concerts in the Great Hall of Kiev Music Academy named for P. Tchaikovsky, Soldiers Rehabilitation Hospital, newly renovated Severodonetsk Drama and Music Theatre; organize educational events in an orphanage of Severodonetsk and a school of Novodruzhesk. On a tour together with the orchestra a raising opera star, tenor Edgaras Davidovičius, Conductor Emeritus Donatas Katkus and Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Modestas Barkauskas will come.

The orchestra does not limit its visit with just concerts. Together with Lithuanian Caritas, it continues an initiative that has started in 2017 – gathering financial support that orchestra will use to buy necessities for the orphanages in Severodonetsk and basic music equipment for the school in Novodruzhesk. The orchestra will personally hand the bought things to the responsible people of above-mentioned organizations.

In support of the initiative, together with Caritas of Lithuania and the Embassy of Ukraine in Lithuania the orchestra organizes a FREE CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERT “BIRDS OF EDEN”. Before and after this concert, and while visiting other concerts in St. Catherine’s Church listeners will be able to donate to a special Caritas Offerings Box. Everyone who would like to help by donating are also welcome to transfer money to special project account:

THIS CONCERT – IS A PART OF INITIATIVE TO SUPPORT CHILDREN OF UKRAINE. IT IS A MUTUAL PROJECT OF ST. CHRISTOPHER ORCHESTRA AND CARITAS OF LITHUANIA.
After receiving financing for touring to Eastern Ukraine from Lithuanian Council for Culture and Ministry of Culture of Lithuania St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra has a possibility to visit orphanages in Severodonetsk and a school in Novodruzhesk.

The orchestra has decided to continue it’s initiative that started in 2017 when it gave concert in Kaunas and raised money to buy necessities for the same orphanages.

During this years initiative and concert the money will be raised so that the orchestra would be able to answer to various needs that these orphanages and the school expressed.
In Vilnius St. Catherine’s Church (Vilniaus St 30) there is a special offerings box, everyone who is willing is welcome to give what ever amount he/she wants, it is also possible to transfer money directly to the special bank account of the project:

„I have a two year old son, I understand it very well – how much a child needs. This, what children of Ukraine are experiencing is horrible. I wouldn’t wish this to happen to any person, especially to children. We, the orchestra, Caritas of Lithuania and all people from Lithuania [and other countries] can do something to ease the routine of poor Ukrainian orphans, who were shattered and traumatized by war.“
For the offerings that will be received the orchestra will buy basic things such as diapers, food, teaching materials, vitamins, musical equipment. The musicians of the orchestra will take the gifts by themselves and will give them to the employers of the orphanages and the school. This year the family of the orchestra was expanded with a new, blessed by maestro Donatas himself, conductor and art director – Modestas Barkauskas. While celebrating together you will see on stage both conductors having a lot of fun!

The soloist of the evening – one of the best saxophone players in Lithuania, a man with great sense of musical humor – Petras PETRAS VYŠNIAUSKAS.

Colorful program and great mood – that is a Thursday evening with St. Christopher!

St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra invites to celebrate one of the most important dates in the history of Lithuania. Let us gather in St. Catherine’s church and listen to music written by the winner of Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts, composer Osvaldas Balakauskas and Johan Sebastian Bach.

The soloist of the evening – Daumantas Kirilauskas – a pianist, associate professor at Lithaunian Music Academy, he not only has great technique, truly convincing artistic performance, but also a deep stillness and a great ability to create a drama of sounds during the concert.

The orchestra will be conducted by Modestas Barkauskas, the new art director and conductor of the orchestra.

Bright and festive concert with classical music of exceptional beauty. This time St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra will perform pieces of a famous composer of the 18th century, Viennese Classic period – Joseph Haydn. J. Haydn had a great personality, he was also a friend and mentor of W. A. Mozart, a teacher of L. van Beethoven. He loved to include some unexpected jokes into his pieces, and in overall – he was an optimistic, joyful person and these qualities reflect in his compositions. The soloist of the evening – Rusnė Mataitytė – professor of Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy, a member of Cascades Trio, a violinist of exceptional talent, winner of international competitions, specially valued for her best quality performance and a great ability to reveal the composers ideas.

The orchestra will be conducted by Donatas Katkus.
