🎉 ST. CHRISTOPHER CHAMBER ORCHESTRA’S BIRTHDAY CONCERT!
Dominique de Williencourt — a renowned French cellist and composer — has been awarded the French National Order for his outstanding musical achievements. The French magazine Diapason wrote of him:
“A refined virtuoso of great culture, captivating with the silky tones of his cello and the elegance of his performance.”
The artist performs on a cello crafted in 1757 in the Gagliano workshop, an instrument that reveals exceptional timbral richness and subtle nuances of expression. De Williencourt is a welcome guest on the world’s most prestigious stages, where he appears both as a performer and a composer.
“During the Baroque and Classical periods, only a few composers wrote for this combination of instruments. Yet the dialogue between the cello and the strings offers unique opportunities to explore harmony, dynamics, and interwoven tonalities,” notes De Williencourt.
In this exceptional concert, the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra of Vilnius City Municipality and soloist Dominique de Williencourt (cello, France) will present a refined program featuring:
E. Grieg’s Holberg Suite for string orchestra,
C. Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 30 (version for string orchestra),
