2023 August 11 7:00 p.m. Gdansk, Poland
Vilnius in Gdansk is an interdisciplinary cultural festival that has been organized jointly by the partner cities of Gdańsk and Vilnius for twenty years. It hosts many artistic events, as well as the traditional Vilnius fair.
The Vilnius Festival in Gdańsk is always a special forum for meeting friendly cities, and above all, their inhabitants. It is an opportunity to cultivate the best Gdańsk-Vilnius traditions, but also to promote Lithuanian culture in Poland, develop new forms of cooperation and reflect on plans for the future.
The opening weekend of the festival will take place from 11 to 13 August, while various festival events are planned in summer and autumn. The theme of this year’s edition is “Community”.
On August 11, a gala will be held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of partnership between Gdańsk and Vilnius. This year we are also joining the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of Vilnius. The festival includes, among others: literary meetings, concerts, exhibitions, discussions, film screenings and handicraft workshops. The artistic director of the Vilnius festival in Gdańsk is Dr. Tomasz Snarski.
We want everyone to feel part of our community. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what language you speak, where you come from, what your identity is. We invite you to the Gdańsk-Vilnius community. Get to know the culture of Vilnius and Gdańsk and our ties. Or maybe it is thanks to the “Vilnius in Gdańsk” festival that you will discover the richness of Vilnius culture for the first time?
Let’s be together between Gdańsk and Vilnius, between Poland and Lithuania, in a community!
Through our festival and the development of cultural cooperation, let us once again show that a world of peace, solidarity and freedom is possible. This is especially important in everyday life torn apart by war and violence. See you in the community during this year’s jubilee edition of Vilnius in Gdańsk!
