The Energetic, full of great ideas, and always youthful St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra invites you to the Great Season Opening Concert on September 26 at 7 p.m. in St. Catherine Church. The concert will feature the highest-level orchestra, charismatic conductor Modestas Barkauskas, and vibraphone virtuoso composer Mizuki Aita from Japan. The program will include the works of other Japanese composers: Shoichi Yabuta, Shion Sahara, Kiyoshige Koyama, Takashi Yoshimatsu. These are colorful works that require extraordinary virtuosity, playing, and sensitivity, in which the orchestra has a great opportunity to reveal all its possibilities. The evening’s star will be heart-pounding pieces for vibraphone and string orchestra by Mizuki Aita, winner of special prizes at the International St. Christopher Composers Competition.
