Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis dreamed of creating a Lithuanian opera, yet this idea remained unfulfilled. More than a century later, his vision comes to life in a new form – the imagined opera “Jūratė”, inspired by Čiurlionis’ letters, stage design sketches, and Sofija Kymantaitė’s libretto.
A contemporary creative team, using the AI tool “Composer’s Assistant 2” (developed by Dr. Martin Malandro, USA), generated musical fragments later shaped into a full score by Lithuanian composers Mantautas Krukauskas, Arvydas Malcys, and Mykolas Natalevičius.
The legend of the sea goddess Jūratė and the fisherman Kastytis will be brought to life on stage by:
