The year 2022 was declared the year of Monsignor Kazimieras Vasiliauskas by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania. The literary scholar Viktorija Daujotytė comments about the Lithuanian Catholic clergyman with a bright memory as about walking love. His words: “I feel happiest when I am able to help a person wipe his tears, to wipe a stone from his chest” will be remembered by many generations of Lithuanian Catholics.

To commemorate the year of Monsignor Kazimieris Vasiliauskas, Vilnius City Municipality The Kistophor Chamber Orchestra, together with Lithuanian and world-renowned soloists Lina Dambrauskaitė (soprano), Nora Petročenko (mezzo-soprano), Tadu Girininkas (bass) and the Vilnius City Municipal Choir Jauna muzika (artistic director and conductor Vaclovas Augustinas), prepared a program of sacred music, in which compositions by composer Donatas Zakaras will be performed.

The concert will feature D. Zakaro’s work “Rorate caeli desuper” for solo mezzo-soprano, choir, brass quartet and string orchestra, and Magnificat for solo soprano, bass, choir and string orchestra. Zakar’s works are characterized by clear lyrics, transparent texture, tonal sound, music is sometimes diversified with unusual timbre combinations, aleatory or sonoristic effects.

The concert is part of the Vilnius 700 program. https://www.700vilnius.lt/
